The SEAW Scholarship Application i Applications will open in early 2024 for next year's awards. To be eligible, a student must be:
• United States citizen and an official resident of the State of Washington. Residents of this state attending schools in other states are eligible. Students attending in-state schools on anon-resident basis are not eligible.
• At the time of application, currently enrolled in a program of study majoring in Structural Engineering as an undergraduate in their final year of study, or as a graduate student
• Committed to making a professional career in the practice of structural engineering The SEAW Scholarship Program opens for application toward the beginning of the calendar year. Current awards equal $5,000, but are determined officially by the SEAW Scholarship Committee. SEFW is committed to furthering the profession of structural engineering, and is eager to assist students in their structural engineering educational goals.
Current Scholarship Awards
Six Washington students were recognized with 2023 scholarship awards at the SEAW Spring Social in June. Congratulations to these students, who received both SEAW scholarships and the inaugural SEAW DEI scholarships.
Cesar Bedolla-Hurtado, EIT, received a $5,000 SEAW Scholarship. Cesar just graduated with a BSCE from Washington State University, where he was on the Honor Roll and was nominated as “Senior of the Year” for the CEE department in 2023. While at WSU, he was involved with the WSU chapter of ASCE, serving as president, as well as the WSU Society of Latino Engineers & Scientists, and the AISC Steel Bridge team. He has volunteered for several years with the WSU “Kids Science and Engineering Day” and a WSU multi-cultural leadership conference. Cesar is currently an intern at KPFF in Seattle and previously held internships at Coughlin Porter Lundeen in Seattle and the Washington State Department of Transportation. Next year he plans to return to WSU to pursue his MSCE. Cesar was born and raised in East Wenatchee and is a graduate of Eastmont High School.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to funding the annual SEAW Scholarship Program, SEFW is committed to supporting scholarships that increase learning for structural engineers and structural engineering students. SEFW has provided scholarships for younger structural engineers to cover registration fees or accommodations for professional development academic conferences like the NCSEA Structural Engineering Summit and the SEA Northwest Conference. SEFW is also a proud donor of the local ACE Mentor Program, fully funding $5,000 scholarships for students intending to study structural engineering at the university level.
